FUGITIVE UPDATE: Langford in Custody of US Marshals

Subject of wide area manhunt conducted by Etowah County, St Clair County US Marshals Service and others. Apprehended before noon today.

(Hokes Bluff, AL - September 2, 2010) Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin's office is reporting that a Piedmont man wanted by the US Marshals Service has been apprehended shortly befor noon today.

Earlier today, around 9:00 a.m., 39 year old Jeffrey Lynn Langford ran from officers shortly after a domestic violence indicdent at his residence in the Ball Play area of Etowah County, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Entrekin reports Langford's capture occurred in a wooded area behind his home at 320 Siler Road. Although the home has a Piedmont address, it is inside Etowah County.

A press release this afternoon indicates a 9-1-1 call had been made shortly after 9:00 a.m. from that Siler Road home, reporting an incident of domestic violence.

Sheriff's deputies, along with Hokes Bluff Police, the St. Clair K-9 Unit, Etowah County Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Etowah County Sheriff's Helicopter, the Alabama Department of Corrections and the US Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force all worked together to bring Langford into custody.

Sheriff Entrekin's office reports no injuries in the apprehension of Langford, who has been transported by the US Marshal's Service to Birmingham.
